ICT professionals who have full work experience as professional ICT employees but not with the ICT degree qualification are required to submit the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) report form to the Australian Computer Society (ACS) for ACS Skills Assessment. ACS RPL Assessment Application Categories
There are two categories under which the applicants can apply for ACS RPL Assessment.
- Applicants who have a non-ICT degree qualification, require a minimum of 6 years of work experience as a professional ICT employee in a field relevant to the nominated occupation ANZSCO CODE.
- Applicants who do not have tertiary qualifications, require an additional 2 years of work experience as ICT skilled employee(8 years in total) but the extra 2 years’ experience is not necessary to be relevant to the ANZSCO CODE.
Requirements of ACS RPL Project Report Form
For RPL Assessment, applicants are required to submit two Project Reports through ACS Project Report Form (RPL).
In one report, the project that is undertaken in the last three years should be mentioned, and in another report, the project undertaken in the previous five years.
Each report must provide a detailed description of a career episode in the employment history with sufficient detail of evidence in applying the claimed knowledge in a working situation. Sufficient detail must be provided to demonstrate the depth and breadth of ICT knowledge gained during the applicant’s ICT employment.

- Provide the design tools you have chosen for use on this project and explain the reasons for its selection.
- Provide the major project results you’ve been responsible for or contributing to, then explain the reason for their inclusion.
- Outcomes and Results
- Was your solution implemented? If so, describe any role, you had in the implementation. If not explain why not.
- Assess project overall success or failure. Report on consumer satisfaction, target achievement and ultimate versus proposed cost and schedule.
- Skills Achieved: In retrospect, what you might have done differently on this project and what lessons did you learn?
